David “Dave” Leon Shepard, 73, of Las Vegas Nevada passed away peacefullly on Saturday April 9, 2016 at Nathan Adelson Hospice House.

Dave was born on November 16, 1942 in Portland Oregon, the second son of Leon and Lena (Scarino) Shepard. He loved fishing, golf, collecting model cars and his grandkids.

David graduated from High School in 1960. He married and moved to Portland Oregon shortly after Graduation where he remained until relocating to Las Vegas Nevada in October of 2013. While living in Portland and until his passing Dave owned and Operated Dave Shepard Enterprises. What started as a small printing business grew into a large souvenir and golf ball printing company which remains operational in Hillsboro Oregon. Dave was very proud of his business and had many friends as a result of his involvement in the golf community.

Dave never met anyone who didn’t become a friend. He would give you anything and was always available to help. He loved to fish with his longtime friend Audie and took his son, son in law and grandsons along whenever he could get them out. Their annual trip to Detroit Lake in Oregon became a very fond memory and he often spoke of the huge “lunker” that didn’t get away.

Although he spent many years in Oregon, he wanted his final resting spot to be with his family in Wea Kansas. Dave is survived by many relatives in both Fort Scott,Kansas and Chillicothe, Missouri.

Dave was preceded in Death by his parents and his only brother, George Shepard. Dave is survived by his constant companion while in Las Vegas, Mary Helen Shepard, his son, Mark Shepard, and his daughter, Donna (Rick)Ford. He has eight grandchildren all of which new him as Papa. Colin Shepard, Linley Shepard, Charlie Ford, Sam Ford, Rachel Fritz, Kirsten Watson, Courtney King and Brittany Janssens.

Dave loved his grandchildren and took great pride in them all.

The family suggests contributions in lieu of flowers to Holy Rosary Cemetery 22779 Metcalf Bucyrus, KS 66013 or to the American Cancer Society
