John (JR) E. Reed 75 of Louisburg Kansas, died July 22, 2016, at home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born May 5, 1941, in Rich Hill Missouri, the son of the late Willa and William Reed Sr. He was the youngest of four siblings. He married Darlene Folsom on December 21, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

John gave his life to the Lord at the age of nine. When he was a young adult, he worked at a Grain Elevator in Garden City, Kansas and was in the Carpentry Union in Kansas for several years. He then moved to Stanley, Kansas, where he worked as a mechanic at a John Deere dealership, Stanley Equipment for 20 years. He retired from Bazin Excavating in 2014, where he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Darlene Reed of Louisburg, KS and a sister, Sue Eib of Napa Valley, CA; step-daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Vic Parmely of Stilwell, KS; step-son Danny Folsom of Louisburg, KS; step-daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Danny Huggins of Pilot Grove, MO; and daughter-in-law, Leslie Folsom of Stilwell, KS. He was blessed with several step-grandchildren, Misty Schweer of Hillsdale, KS, Justin and Misty Parmely of Louisburg KS, Chuck Folsom of Stilwell, KS; Russ Folsom of Troy, Missouri; Austin Kinder, Kirsten, and Nathon Huggins all of Pilot Grove, Missouri, and eight great-grandchildren. He also is survived by three daughter’s all of Missouri.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Grace Hospice or to Louisburg Baptist Temple.
