James L. (Jim) Davis, 81, of Louisburg, Kansas passed away on December 23, 2016 at his home.

Jim was born November 24, 1935 in Chillicothe, MO to Archie and Juanita Seifert Davis. He was united in marriage to Dettie Lou McChesney on December 13, 1959.

Jim served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Frontier from 1954 to 1959. He was a 50 year member of Sheet Metal International Association Local No. 2. His Navy and Construction career allowed him to travel the world to places including: Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela.
He retired in 2002 to enjoy spending time at Lake of the Ozarks in their summer home with family and friends. He had a passion for gardening and sharing his blackberries, tomatoes, and pumpkins. He also enjoyed riding his horse in the American Royal Parade, farming, and taking his grandchildren on rides in the golf cart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sue Fletcher; and his beloved Sheltie, Heidi.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dettie; son, Bill (Tammy) Davis; daughters, Jan (Augie) Hurst, and Traci (Pat) Storey; grandchildren, Chelsea and Dettie Lou Davis, Brian (Casey) Vohs, Kaitlyn Giesch, and Jack Niebaum, Patrick, Ashley, and Libby Storey; and great-grandsons, Brayden and Garrett Vohs.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
