Billie L. “Broom” Shipps age 77, of Louisburg, KS, died on August 2, 2014 at KU Medical Center.

Billie was born October 23, 1936 in Mercer County, MO, the son of Herbert M. and Hattie Mae Nigh Shipps. He married Georgie R. Nash on November 19, 1961.

Billie was the Fire Captain under Cliff Caswell at the Louisburg Fire Department. He worked as a truck driver for Ross Farms, and Jack Meyers Farms and worked several years as a yard supervisor for Mossman Lumber. He owned his own mowing business taking pride in caring for several family homes and Rutlader’s Outpost RV Park for many years. He was a member of the Louisburg Ruritan Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Georgie, daughter, Jean Shotton, sons, George and Dale Shipps, sisters, Delia M. Crawford and Doris Dougan, brothers, Bobbie and Fenton Shipps, grandson, James Richardson.

Survivors include his son, Ray Shipps, Louisburg, KS; Brother, Delbert and Georgia Shipps, Drexel, MO; Son in law Jon Shotton and Trisha Anderson, Osawatomie, KS; grandchildren, Bethany Shotton, Dakota Shotton, Hannah Anderson,Jake Anderson, Jennifer and Terrence Waldenmaier, Amanda and Michael McCoy, great grandchildren, Khloe Allison Shotton , Camden James Waldenmaier and Michael McCoy Jr.

In lieu of flowers contributions to the Billie Shipps family made payable to Ray Shipps.
