Clarence Eugene (Gene) Trageser, age 92 of Bucyrus, KS passed away April 14, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Spring Hill, KS.

Gene was born January 28th, 1923 in Horton KS, Gene and his family moved to the Wea Community when he was 6 weeks old. Gene and his family came via the train bringing with them their livestock and belongings, he always talked about his life on the farm. Gene began farming with his dad Joeseph Trageser with horses and was glad to transition to tractors, which would lead to a lifetime passion for restoring them. Gene had many talents including carpentry, woodworking, being a cattle butcher, and concrete work. Gene was never happier than when family and friends were gathered together to have a fish fry, or swim in his family pool at his home in Bucyrus KS.

Gene was extremely active in the Wea church; serving on the Wea School board, a frequent time keeper for the Wea Eagles basketball games, member of the cemetery board, and a long time parishioner. Billie and Gene enjoyed traveling and visited Hawaii and Europe. Gene lived a long and happy life touching people’s lives wherever he went.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Billie Doreen (Sconce), his parents Joeseph and Bertha Trageser, two brothers, John and Sam, three sisters, Josephine, Adeline, and Mildred.

He is survived by two sisters, Edith Seck and Mary Elizabeth Laffoon, his ten children, Dorothy O’Keefe, Phyllis Martin (John), Carol Huddleston (Tony), Bob Trageser (Debbie), David Trageser (Sharon), Rose Pearce, Donna Waite (Bobby), Janie Dunn (Donnie), Ted Trageser (Kim), Geno Trageser (Heather).

Grandpa leaves a legacy of over 100 plus grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Hospice of Olathe Medical Center or to Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
