Ellen Burris, 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2015.

Ellen was born January 30, 1934 in Marion County, Arkansas, the daughter of Bob and Elizabeth Blackwell. She was united in marriage to Don Burris on April 11, 1964 in Pryor, Oklahoma.

Ellen graduated from Lead Hill High School and moved to Springfield, Missouri where she attended secretarial college before moving to Kansas City where she worked for many years as an executive secretary at Bendix.
She became a homemaker after the birth of her daughters and was the bookkeeper for her husband’s many business ventures. She loved to cook, bake and loved flowers and gardening. Her favorite pastime in recent years was spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don Burris, and her brothers, D. Blackwell and Robert “Hobo” Blackwell.

She is survived by her three daughters, Kim (Chris) Richardson of Louisburg, KS, Donia (Chris) Freese of Bondurant, Iowa and Deanna Price of Overland Park, KS, her five grandchildren, Aidan and Ella Freese and Piper, Kellen and Evyn Richardson, and her brother, Owen “Red” (Linda) Blackwell and many nieces and nephews.
