Maxine Marie Erwin George, age 85, passed away on March 7, 2016 at North Point Skilled Nursing Facility.

Maxine was born in Severy, KS, the daughter of Thomas and Hannah Erwin. She married Ralph L. George in Manhattan, KS in 1948. He preceded her in death in 2014. They farmed in Paola with his parents until 1952 when they moved to Topeka. They moved to Louisburg in 2010.

Her work experiences included school cook, drapery specialist for Ed Marling’s Furniture Store, and secretarial duties for several medical offices. She was very involved in the Topeka Violet Club and in activities with Ralph in the Kansas Army National Guard.

Maxine is survived by two children, Nancy (James) Mellott and Dennis (Louise Fager) George; grandchildren, Sarah Mellott Kelly, Daniel Fager-George and Lia Fager- George Francke; and great grandchildren Celia and Luke Kelly. She also has one sister, Jean Beeler, who lives in Topeka. A special thank you to North Point Skilled Nursing and Crossroads Hospice for their excellent care.
