Barbara Jean Morgan, 86, went home to the Lord November 13, 2014.

Barbara was born in Chanute, KS on August 7, 1928 to Lael Jewel & John Henry McFadden. Growing up in Chanute, she played the trumpet in her drum and bugle corps, played the violin, and rode her bicycle all over that town (especially to the movies). She swam every free second in the local swimming pool and taught swim lessons to the local tots. She and her family later moved to Kansas City, where she attended Wyandotte High School. The raven-haired beauty caught the eye of James Charles Morgan, better known as “Jimmy” at State Avenue Baptist. He wooed her with jokes and trips on the trolley to the movies. They soon married and started their adventures. They had a lot of fun together, best friends traveling around the entire country, camping, fishing, and raising their family.

Barbara was a skilled dancer and ice skater. She was always an excellent cook and baker and her Coca-Cola cake is famous. She was the best wife, mother, and grandma. She was an avid reader, consuming any piece of fiction (but she loved mystery novels the most) and the local papers. She kept up with the goings-on of the world, often knowing the latest fashions and Hollywood happenings way before her grandchildren.

She was the best listener, and endless hours were spent sharing memories from the past and hopes for the future around the talking table (with lots of coffee and diet coke). She lived each day with joy, relishing in some of God’s greatest gifts (ice cream cake is one of them). She never forgot to notice how beautiful the sky and leaves were.

She is now in her heavenly home, reunited with her true love Jimmy Charles. Barbara will be remembered by her three daughters and their spouses, Rebecca Morgan of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Kathy and Steve Belgeri, of Overland Park, KS; and Laura and Mike Bergman of Louisburg, KS; her five treasured grandchildren Jessica Asbridge (married to Justin Asbridge), Emily Bergman, Abby Bergman, Steven Belgeri, Jr. (married to Megan Belgeri), and Kinsey Belgeri; her sister Joanne Jensen; and her dog Daisy.
